The Division of Pulmonary Medicine deals with children’s breathing in all its aspects:
- Chronic sinus problems or recurring colds;
- Allergies;
- Control of breathing;
- Sleep disorders;
- Cystic fibrosis;
- Obstruction of airflow from common diseases such as croup, bronchiolitis, and asthma;
- Bronchopulmonary dysplasia;
- Problems breathing due to muscular disorders;
- Accidents such as inhalation of foreign bodies;
- Problems associated with other diseases such as congenital heart disease, paralysis, and muscular dystrophy.
Our team works closely with many other specialists at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, including ear, nose & throat specialists, gastroenterologists, endocrinologists, cardiologists, neonatologists and orthopaedic surgeons. We also work closely with the lung transplant team at Stanford Hospital and Clinics.
We use a team approach to care for children with chronic diseases, including:
- Doctors;
- Nurses;
- Respiratory care specialists;
- Social workers;
- Dieticians;
- And many others.
